New Jersey Golf Foundation Hires PGA Works Fellow

The New Jersey Golf Foundation, a 501(c)(3) and charitable arm of the New Jersey PGA Section, has selected Jose Joel Sagal to serve as the PGA Works Fellow in the Section’s office.

This program is in coordination with PGA REACH, a 501 (c)(3) charitable foundation of the PGA of America. The PGA Works Fellowship aspires to be the most valuable entry-level opportunity for individuals from diverse backgrounds to gain experience in all facets of the golf industry. This program has expanded to 10 PGA Sections.

“We are honored to add Jose to our team and can’t thank him enough for his service,” Chris Hunt, New Jersey Golf Foundation Executive Director said. “Jose was a participant in our Rutgers University Veterans pilot program last fall and he understands the intrinsic values the game of golf affords individuals from all backgrounds. He is excited to run point on this program as well as PGA HOPE.”

Joel Sagal is an active duty Army veteran who served as the Recreation Series Program Coordinator with the veteran and military programs at Rutgers University. The 27-year-old will complete his master’s degree in May in Global Sports Business at Rutgers University.

As a PGA WORKS Fellow, Joel Sagal will assist with New Jersey Golf Foundation programming and its three pillars: Youth, Military and Special Needs. He will also support various junior golf tournaments and Drive, Chip and Putt. The New Jersey Golf Foundation’s highlighted programs include PGA HOPE, PGA Jr. League, Special Olympics New Jersey Golf, World of Work (W.O.W.) and Golf in Schools.

The PGA of America recognizes that it will be defined by how its commitment to diversity and inclusion resonates throughout its programs and practices. This commitment is mission critical to the health and relevance of the business and the game overall.

Led by PGA Professionals, the New Jersey Golf Foundation hosts a dynamic line-up of programming that provides access for individuals from all backgrounds to experience the game of golf.
